It's about friendship

When the whole world is celebrating love, Finland has a different interpretation of the 14th of February. Valentines day is here celebrated as Ystävänpäivä, Friend's day. In this day everybody is included: friends, family, neighbors, colleagues... as well as sweethearts too! May them ALL receive cards, flowers and chocolate. It's all bout friendship and I love this day!
We've been delivering loads of cards in a horrible weather and besides that spending a super cozy day at home. Baking our hearts out.

Minä leivon kanssa macarons-pikkuleipiä ... ystävänpäivänä saa hieman herkutella!

  2. Such a delightful post and beautiful images Mona.
I don't particularly like Valentine's Day and have never really liked the commercial side to it. It highlights the fact that so many people are single, alone, in a broken relationship or whatever. I love your ideal of friendship much better.
Your baking looks so professional and delicious.
    Happy Ystävänpäivä to you :D

  7. I like the idea of "Friends Day" much better than the silly over-the-top love-fest it is here! Generally only the woman in a relationship gets anything, and getting something is "expected." I used to love Valentines Day when we made a covered, decorated shoe box in school, and all our friends shared Valentines, and then we had some of those little candy hearts that said Be Mine. It was great fun! I love the idea of it being a day to celebrate friendship! Your pictures are wonderful and your yummy goodies are making my mouth water! :-)
